Mr Color Metal Color - Dark Iron

Mr. Color Metal Color - Dark Iron by GSI Creos delivers an authentic, deep metallic dark gray finish, perfect for bringing realistic iron effects to your scale models and figures. This special lacquer-based paint is designed to replicate the genuine luster of real metal, offering hobbyists a unique way to enhance their projects.

A standout feature is its buffable nature. After the paint dries, typically in about 5 minutes, you can gently polish the surface with a soft cloth or tissue to achieve varying degrees of metallic sheen. Light polishing yields a subtle shine, while heavier polishing creates a strong, reflective gloss, allowing for versatile finishes from matte to highly burnished. For optimal results and a deeper metallic appearance, it is recommended to apply this paint over a black or dark-colored base.

This high-quality, solvent-based paint can be applied smoothly by hand brushing or through an airbrush. When hand brushing, consistent strokes in one direction (e.g., left to right or top to bottom) are advised. No thinning is required for brush application. For airbrushing, thinning with Mr. Color leveling thinner is recommended to prevent clogging.

To ensure a durable finish and prevent oxidation of the metal particles, applying a water-based topcoat is recommended. Please note that Mr. Metal Color is distinct from standard Mr. Color paints and should not be mixed with them or revived with Mr. Color's dedicated thinner.
