The unique characteristic of Mr. Metal Color lies in its ability to be polished to varying degrees of metallic luster. Simply apply the paint and, once dry, gently polish the surface with a soft cloth or tissue. The intensity of the shine is entirely up to you: no polishing results in a subtle matte effect, light polishing yields a soft sheen, and more vigorous polishing creates a strong, high-gloss metallic finish.
This solvent-based acrylic resin paint offers outstanding brightness and shininess. It can be applied directly by brush or airbrush, with no thinning required for direct application. For an even deeper metallic effect, consider applying it over a black or dark-colored base coat. Mr. Metal Color is versatile, suitable for a wide array of modeling subjects, including automobiles, airplanes, military vehicles, and antique models.
When applying with a brush, ensure consistent strokes in a single direction, such as from left to right or top to bottom, for the best results. Allow the paint to dry completely before polishing; a drying time of approximately 5 minutes is a good starting point, though this can vary with environmental conditions. For polishing, a soft, clean cloth or tissue, such as old cotton fabric, is ideal for bringing out the metallic luster without scratching.
Please note that Mr. Metal Color is a distinct formulation from standard Mr. Color paints and cannot be revived with Mr. Color's dedicated thinner. While a topcoat can protect the finish and reduce oxidation, using Mr. Super Clear may dull the metallic effect, so exercise caution. A water-based topcoat series is recommended for coating to help maintain the metallic appearance.
