For optimal results, Mr. Color paints require thinning with Mr. Color Thinner, available in standard, Rapid, or Leveling varieties, which also serve for cleaning brushes and airbrushes. When hand brushing, 1 to 2 coats are recommended, while airbrushing typically benefits from 2 to 3 coats. The recommended thinning ratio for hand brushing is 1 part paint to 0.8-1 part thinner, and for airbrushing, 1 part paint to 1-2 parts thinner. The semi-gloss finish can be further adjusted by mixing in Mr. Flat Base, with 5-10% creating a semi-gloss effect and 10-20% yielding a matte finish.
