For optimal application, 1 to 2 coats are recommended when using paint brushes, and 2 to 3 coats if airbrushing. When airbrushing, thin the paint with Mr. Color Thinner, Mr. Rapid Thinner, or Mr. Leveling Thinner at a ratio of approximately 1 part Mr. Color to 1-2 parts thinner, depending on desired viscosity. For brush painting, a ratio of 1 part Mr. Color to 0.8-1.0 parts thinner is recommended.

This lacquer-based paint offers a stronger paint film and faster drying speed compared to Aqueous Hobby Color. Gloss levels can be further adjusted by mixing in Mr. Flat Base, with 5-10% converting gloss colors to a semi-gloss finish, or 10-20% for a matt finish. Mr. Hobby Topcoat and Super Clear can be applied over a coat of Mr. Color. Note that Mr. Color cannot be applied over Aqueous Hobby Color or Acrysion, nor should it be mixed with them, Acrysion Base Colors, Classy 'n Dressy Colors, or Mr. Metal Color.
