Description

Delve into the rich history and architectural beauty of Japan with the Fujimi 1/100 Ishiyama-dera "Ta-hoh-toh" model kit. This meticulously detailed replica brings to life the iconic Taho-to pagoda, a designated National Treasure located within the historic Ishiyama-dera Temple complex.

The Ishiyama-dera Temple, founded in the mid-8th century, is nestled on a unique wollastonite rock formation in Otsu, Shiga Prefecture, earning it the name "stone mountain". The Taho-to pagoda itself, a masterpiece of late 12th-century Japanese architecture, was constructed around 1194 by Minamoto no Yoritomo and stands as Japan's oldest surviving structure of its kind. This distinctive pagoda style, known as tahōtō, features a unique two-tiered design with a square lower section and a cylindrical upper section, topped with a mokoshi "skirt roof" and a pyramidal roof.

Beyond its architectural significance, Ishiyama-dera Temple holds cultural importance as the legendary site where Murasaki Shikibu is said to have conceived "The Tale of Genji". This kit allows enthusiasts to recreate a piece of this profound history.
