Description
Fujimi presents the 1/700 Kongo, a meticulously detailed plastic model kit capturing the iconic Japanese Navy battleship as it appeared in October 1944 during Operation Sho-Go 1. This kit, part of the Special Easy Series, is designed for an enjoyable and precise building experience, making it accessible for both seasoned enthusiasts and those new to naval modeling.
The model boasts a glue assembly design, emphasizing accurate and intricate construction. It is molded primarily in gray, providing an excellent base for personalized painting and weathering to achieve a realistic finish. The hull features an integrated one-piece design for the port and starboard sides, with portholes depicted in a closed state through embossed moldings.
Experience the historical accuracy with specific details such as the 21 and 22 radar antennas on the bridge area, complemented by a 13 radar antenna on the rear mast. Enhanced gun positions are added to the canopies of the second and third main turrets, alongside an expanded anti-air command center. The kit accurately reflects the ship's wartime modifications, including a reduced searchlight count by two, and enhanced 25mm triple machine guns. Secondary guns have been partially removed with casing closures, and two 12.7cm twin high-angle guns have been added. Further details include an altered shape for the anti-air fire control center, relocated machine guns, and a rear bridge 4.5-meter rangefinder replaced with additional machine guns.
