[SWA-28] 1/76 JGSDF Type74 Middle Tank (BATRA)

Experience the formidable presence of the Japan Ground Self-Defense Force's iconic main battle tank with the Fujimi [SWA-28] 1/76 JGSDF Type74 Middle Tank (BATRA) plastic model kit. This newly-molded kit captures the distinctive features of the Type 74, a cornerstone of Japanese armored defense.

Developed by Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, the Type 74 was designed to succeed the Type 61, entering serial production from 1975 to 1988 with approximately 900 units built. It boasts an all-welded steel hull and a cast turret, comparable to Western contemporaries like the Leopard 1 and M60.

Powering this impressive machine is a Mitsubishi 10ZF Model 21 engine, delivering 750 horsepower. The tank's primary armament is a potent 105mm rifled gun, manufactured under license from the British L7. For additional defense, it is equipped with a coaxial 7.62mm machine gun and a pintle-mounted 12.7mm anti-aircraft machine gun. A notable innovation of the Type 74 is its advanced hydro-pneumatic suspension system, allowing the tank to adjust its posture by tilting forward, backward, or sideways, which significantly enhances gun elevation and depression. The tank also features a sophisticated fire control system, incorporating ballistic computers and laser rangefinders for exceptional accuracy.

This kit offers the flexibility to build the camouflage parts on the right side of the turret in one of two distinct ways, allowing for personalized display options.
