Description
The 1/700 IJN Light Cruiser Sakawa by Fujimi brings to life the fourth and final vessel of the Agano-class, a distinctive series of light cruisers that marked a departure from earlier Japanese designs. This meticulously crafted plastic model kit captures the modern Agano type shape, setting it apart from its predecessors.
Enthusiasts will appreciate the carefully molded non-slip deck effect, adding a layer of realism to the finished model. Historically, the Agano-class cruisers were envisioned as "Leaders" for destroyer flotillas, a role that emphasized powerful torpedo armament and high top speed.
The actual IJN Light Cruiser Sakawa was laid down in 1942, launched in April 1944, and commissioned into the Imperial Japanese Navy in November 1944. She measured 162 meters in length, 15.2 meters in width, and had a full displacement of 7,600 tons, capable of speeds around 35 knots. Her formidable armament included six 152 mm guns in three twin turrets, four 80 mm guns, and two quadruple 610 mm torpedo tubes.
This kit allows you to recreate a significant piece of naval history, complete with its unique design and historical context.
