Description

A highly detailed 1/700 scale model kit of the Imperial Japanese Navy aircraft carrier Akagi, a pivotal vessel in naval history. This kit meticulously recreates the Akagi as she appeared at the outset of World War II, offering enthusiasts a chance to build a replica of Vice Admiral Nagumo's flagship during the iconic attack on Pearl Harbor in 1941.

Originally laid down as a battlecruiser in 1920, the Akagi was later converted into a formidable aircraft carrier, commissioned into service in March 1927. She measured an impressive 260.7 meters in length with a full displacement of 41,300 tons, capable of achieving speeds of approximately 30-31 knots. Her distinguished career included significant actions in the invasion of Rabaul and the attack on Darwin, Australia, before her ultimate loss at the Battle of Midway in 1942.

This Fujimi kit, designated TOKU-35, provides a comprehensive building experience for modelers. The hull is designed with an internal truss system, ensuring both strength and straightness during assembly. Modelers have the option to construct the Akagi as a waterline display model.

Included in the kit are various aircraft, molded in clear plastic to allow for detailed painting and display:

  • Three Type 21 Zeroes
  • Three Type 99 Carrier Bombers
  • Three Type 97 Carrier Attack Bombers

Specifications:

  • Scale: 1/700
  • Material: Plastic
  • Assembly: Required (unassembled and unpainted)
